One verse of the lyrics to the song "Plush" were inspired by a missing woman in the California city of San Diego. Her body was discovered by local law enforcement. Drummer Eric Kretz wrote those lyrics after learning of the story.
"And I feel, when the dogs begin to smell her..."
But the song is not about a missing girl, but the line is more a metaphor to a relationship being messed up due to cheating. But instead of ending the relationship, the singer is referring to things as being really messed up. The relationship is basically dead, but the singer still can't let go.
